OKTOBERFEST!

Yes, I know it\’s not Okt- er, October.

The much-awaited Team Fortress 2 Goldrush patch has finally arrived, injecting change into the manic world ofTeam Fortress 2. The new map, Goldrush, features a new game type, Payload, much in the vein of classic Team Fortress Classic maps like Hunted. In addition, the Medic class has received a bunch of new weapons that can be unlocked by completing the newly-released Medic achievements, some of which are pretty tricky. My personal favourite:

Use your bonesaw to kill 5 enemy Spies who have been calling for \”Medic!\”.

One other surprise Valve has tossed in is a free play weekend. Taking a page out of the MMO playbook, they\’ve decided to allow people to download and play Team Fortress 2 for free, but just for this upcoming weekend. To anyone who\’s been kind of curious about this game but hesitant to drop the cash, this is your chance to see what all the fuss is about. I strongly recommend that you check it out.
